-Why are they crying?
-Why are they smiling?
-Why are they on a beach?

Lauren Faust's original concept for Celestia was that she was going to train twilight to take over from her, so you could easily make this analogous to the departure scene from the end of Return of the King.

this is what i think that celestia is going away for awhile and twilight feals happy for her so there crying of joyness and sadness celestia is hideing a frown and shes trying to show a smile so celestia flies away and comes back a year later

Because they're celebrating the fact that Twilight's discovered a way for Twi to become an Alicorn like the Princess. Also, they're on their honeymoon. OH, my Celestia, this is wrong for me to be playing this game. I think I like it....
